Designed for Year 6 students, this class typically follows at least a year of preparation during Year 5, either with me or another tutor. The focus shifts towards preparing for independent school entrance exams in the style of Sevenoaks School and other highly selective schools.
We develop long-form comprehension responses using structures such as PEE (Point, Evidence, Explanation) and PETAL, alongside creative writing and more advanced mathematical reasoning. Reasoning and Critical Thinking are also incorporated to support preparation for the ISEB PreTest. Particular emphasis is placed on extended answers, clear written expression, and tackling multi-step problem-solving questions with precision and confidence.
This approach has led to consistently strong outcomes. In 2026, students secured 20 offers from 23 applications, including 9 scholarships, with offers from leading independent schools such as Sevenoaks School, James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS), Alleyn’s School, and Caterham School. Notably, 75% of students who sat the Sevenoaks assessment received offers or were placed on the waiting list. In 2025, 20 out of 22 applications resulted in offers, with all students receiving at least one place, including multiple offers and scholarships at these highly competitive schools.
These sessions are designed to prepare students for independent school entrance exams such as Sevenoaks School, Caterham School, Wycombe Abbey, Benenden School, and Eltham College, as well as other leading schools in Sevenoaks, Bromley, and the wider Kent area.
